confidential_fileTo ensure that quality of care provided to patients is kept to the highest standards all practices are required to undergo regular practice visits by external assessors. These visits involve a team of five assessors which may include a lay member.

If you do not wish your records to be inspected on any such visit, please contact the Practice Manager. (See sign in waiting room for further information)

Data Protection Act 1998

You are entitled to access your clinical records held by the practice. This should be done by submitting a request in writing stating exactly what information you require.

A charge will apply for this request ranging from £10—£50 maximum. You may also be required to be accompanied by a GP

Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

This came into force on 1.1.05 and enables any person requesting information from a public body to received information subject to certain exemptions. This is to encourage public authorities (GP Practices) to be more open and accountable and organise their information in an efficient and accessible way. This excludes personal data.
