Premises
Set in landscaped grounds in a stunning setting, with ample parking, the Craig Nevis practice is located inside the brand-new purpose-built premises of the Fort William Health Centre.

It occupies a spacious wing of the new building, which houses two other practices and the Community Health Services Centre.

Educational Facilities
There is a Postgraduate Centre in Inverness with a full educational programme, with regular Registrar and GP courses.

We hold regular tutorials in the surgery, and there are regular meetings in Fort William of the Lochaber Medical Society, and combined Clinical Meetings with Medical and Surgical Departments of the Belford Hospital.

The Trainer/Registrar Group holds monthly meetings with neighbouring practices.
Additionally, there is a Postgraduate Centre in the nearby Belford Hospital in Fort William.

Out-of-Hours Calls
Registrars are always covered by a Principal from the practice when on call, and Registrars are not expected to do Out of Hours Calls until sufficiently familiar and able to do this, usually by three months. Although Out of Hours Provision is now provided via the Primary Care Organisation, there is still a local rota which our Principals are involved in. You will be part of that rota - which operates from the local Belford Hospital - during your time as a Registrar.

Records
All records are A4 summarised and computerised.

I.T.
The practice uses information technology extensively. We have the GPASS clinical software and computers available in the consulting room and for administration.

The Practice is "PaperLite" using the DocMan Imaging System. The Registrar has a dedicated room and there is also a training room complete with library, for protected study time.

Equipment
Equipment available in the surgery includes ECG, Nebulisers, Microscope, Centrifuge, Peak Flow Meters and spirometer, Steriliser, Resuscitation Equipment, TV, Video camera and video recorder.

Hospital Clinics
The Belford Hospital has a Casualty Department, Surgical and Medical Wards and a Maternity Unit. There is open access to X-ray and Physiotherapy and a full range of Out Patient Clinics. There is also a Renal Dialysis Unit.

Registrar attendance can be arranged.

Practice Clinics
We have a strong emphasis on preventative medicine.

Minor surgical procedures are carried out in the main surgery within our practice area and we also have access to dedicated minor operations and venepuncture rooms.

There are visiting clinics by CPNs and Physiotherapists.
