Fort
William is the largest town
in the West Highlands of Scotland, with a population
of just under 11,000, and is right in the middle of
one of the most scenic areas of Britain. Life here in
Lochaber has a different pace from the rest of Britain
- the pace is gentler and folk are more friendly and
welcoming than you may be used to, with everywhere a
strong sense of community and identity.
You will find your perfect lifestyle here - in the town
you have every urban facility, whilst nearby is practically
every outdoor activity you can think of - walking across
empty hills, climbing on some of the most challenging
technical routes in Britain, mountain biking on world-class
tracks, sailing, scuba-diving, kayaking, fishing and
golf. There is a modern leisure centre in the town,
a ski-lift at Aonach Mor, and the area even has an ice-climbing
wall.
Education is of a high standard, with modern schools
and facilities and a thriving Gaelic culture which is
most apparent in the musical life of the area, with
far too many talented musicians than seems fair for
the size of the population!
Access to the area is by good, empty roads (which are
rather busier in the high season) or by rail over the
most beautiful line in Britain from Glasgow - Sleeper
services operate directly to London.
Altogether, the training and facilities offered by the
Craig Nevis Surgery, our own Belford Hospital and the
Postgraduate Centre in Inverness make Fort William irresistible.
Doesn't it?
